IndyCar Race Weekend seems to have a knack for bringing some of the biggest talents in the music industry to Iowa during the two-day event. Carrie Underwood, Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton, Ed Sheeran and Kenny Chesney have been among the top stars performing on stage in previous years.
Now in its third year, the Hy-Vee IndyCar Race Weekend returns July 12-14 at the Iowa Speedway in Newton, and with it comes two days of concerts bookending the dual races. Hy-Vee announced two of the shows for the weekend.
First up, country superstar Luke Combs takes the stage on Saturday, July 13, before the first NTT IndyCar Series race of the doubleheader weekend. Then on Sunday, July 14, Post Malone brings his blend of R&B, hip hop and pop following the final IndyCar Series race of the weekend.
Country superstar Luke Combs performs on the first day of IndyCar Race Weekend in Iowa
Combs went from rising star in 2019 when he played Wells Fargo Arena to one of the biggest names in country music with multiple ACM and CMA Awards. He won CMA Entertainer of the Year in 2021 and 2022.
His newest album, “Gettin’ Old,” includes his remake of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car,” which earned Combs his seventh Grammy Award nomination. “The Kind of Love We Make” and “Beer Never Broke My Heart” are among his catalog of hits.
Post Malone plays the second day of IndyCar Race Weekend in Iowa
Post Malone performs his first concert in central Iowa when he caps the weekend of racing. The eight-time Grammy nominee performs all of the instruments on his current self-titled album that melds pop, hip hop and R&B. Expect to hear songs such as “Circles,” “I Like You” and “Chemical.”
Where can I buy tickets to the race weekend?
Both stars plan to perform for 90 minutes trackside in front of the main grandstand at the speedway. The concerts are free for fans who attend either day of the race, although superfans can buy a concert pit pass for trackside viewing at hyveeindycarweekend.com.
Tickets are on sale now for 2024 Hy-Vee IndyCar Race Weekend and start at $65 at hyveeindycarweekend.com.
